The Nomad Offroad Crew at Mega Run 2021 with Amanda's 1st Place Wild Plaque for the Obstacle Course.
Barnwell Mountain Recreation Area has been the home of the Mega Run event and competition for 22 years. Started by the TX4WD 4x4 club, Mega Run has long achieved its mission statement of creating a family friendly environment for off road enthusiasts from all categories to come together and enjoy one of the most popular OHV parks in Texas. With events ranging from a Poker Run and Scavenger Hunt to a timed Obstacle Course and a King of the Hill competition, there is no shortage of activities to participate in or spectate.
Inclusivity has been a stated goal by the founders and sponsors of the event, having established a class system for competitions which allows those on a budget to win a plaque just as well as those in high end off road machines. Increased participation in events by younger drivers has opened up a Youth division as well, allowing 10-15 year old competitors to challenge their peers for their own divisional rewards. However, if competition isn't of interest, guided trail rides have always been available to those that wish to see to wheel at their own speed.
Last year's Mega Run was an eventful one, with one of our founding members, Amanda, taking home the win in the Obstacle Course for the Wild Class. Another of our members, Johnathon, was the recipient of the People's Choice Award during the 20th Anniversary event back in 2020. This year, Nomad Offroad is planning a return to the event to once again enjoy the activities, the competitions, and the general atmosphere of fun and excitement.
Mega Run 2022 kicks off March 3rd and continues until March 6th. Registration is open on TX4WD's website through their online store. Volunteer positions are also available for those interested and rewards the hard work put in with extra raffle tickets.
